Textiles 1:
Credit ½, Grade Level 9, 10, 11, 12, Semester 1 or 2 This course introduces students to basic sewing and pressing equipment, textiles, introductory level projects and construction techniques. This course will provide students with decision making skill, enable students to evaluate clothing purchases and may explore entrepreneurial opportunities. A variety of projects will be completed. FCCLA may be an integral part of this class. Textiles 2: Credit ½, Grade Level 9, 10, 11, 12 Semester 1 or 2 This course will review briefly the skills from Textiles and Apparel 1. In addition, students will work with a variety of fabrics. They will become familiar with techniques to customize their garments. Special effects such as appliqué, embroidery (hand and machine) will be explored. Projects and techniques will be at an intermediate level. This course will provide students with the opportunity to use a serger and an embroidery machine. The students may explore entrepreneur opportunities. A variety of projects will be completed. FCCLA may be an integral part of this class. Made in Montana: Entrepreneurship Credit ½ Practical Art credit Semester 1 or 2 Grade Level 9-12 Course Description: Develop your creative talents into a "home-based business”. Each student will learn the proper technique, equipment, terminology. Versatility and selection of quality materials for each craft skill. This will allow students to develop skills and experience aspects of developing a home-based business. Activities include organizing a small business, producing products and/or providing services and managing a small business. Student leadership (FCCLA) may be an integral part of this course by using the Star Event "Entrepreneurship" project. Consumer Housing: Credit ½. Grade Level 9, 10, 11, 12, Semester 1 or 2 Consumer Housing provides a practical introduction to space planning, room design and presentation. This class teaches students how to apply the elements and principles of design to personal interior design problems. Critical thinking and problem solving are integral part of the projects completed in this course. Students will complete a notebook/portfolio of designated projects. Projects may include, but are not limited to, design elements and principles notebooks, color boards, room floor plans and design and closet storage. |
